Florida TaxWatch Honors Two Principals of Member Schools of the Florida Consortium of Public Charter Schools (FCPCS) 

Florida TaxWatch Presents Principal Leadership Awards to Principals of Schools in Mount Dora and Pembroke Pines 

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., (February 8, 2024) – Principals of two member schools of the Florida Consortium of Public Charter Schools (FCPCS) have been honored with Principal Leadership Awards from Florida TaxWatch. 

Principal Linda Bartberger of Round Lake Charter School of Mount Dora received the award as a middle school winner.  Mount Dora is located in Lake County. 

Principal Diane Showalter of Franklin Academy in Pembroke Pines received the award as a high school winner.  Pembroke Pines is located in Broward County. 

According to Florida TaxWatch, the Principal Leadership Awards program identifies Florida’s most effective principals.  The Florida TaxWatch website notes the awards, “recognize and reward their work, and promote their transformational practices throughout the state.  This awards program is Florida’s only data-driven principal recognition initiative.  The program analyzes student performance data over several consecutive years.” 

The mission of Round Lake Charter School is to inspire success and a love of learning for all students in a safe and nurturing environment through the combined efforts of students, faculty, staff and parents. 

Principal Linda Bartberger of Round Lake Charter School holds both Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees in Education from the University of Central Florida in Orlando.  Her Bachelor’s Degree is in Elementary Education and Teaching.  Her Master’s Degree is in Educational Leadership and Administration. 

The mission of Franklin Academy is to create life-long learners by developing critical thinking skills and promoting high levels of academic achievement in students, while meeting the benchmarks of a standards-based curriculum utilizing varied research-based instructional strategies, technologies and media, with an emphasis on character development. 

Diane Showalter holds Bachelor's Degrees in Secondary English Education and Early Childhood Education from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA.  She earned her Master's Degree in Supervision and Administration.
